Over the last couple of days, I've been taking long walks around Pasadena and San Marino and looking at all the amazing decorations that are gracing our beautiful homes. It's no small feat to put some of these up. I, for one, am not much for decorating - maybe it's the lack of time or just not enough creativity - I don't know. My decoration was three huge pumpkins (2 of which unfortunately walked away off of my porch a few days ago) and a door hanger.
This morning, as I'm watching my kids put together their costumes, get the cookies and cups ready for school parties and talk about this evening's activities, I'm reflecting on how commercialized Halloween is getting. This is not going to be a rant, but out of curiousity, I wanted to look at some Halloween facts as presented by National Retail Federation.

I love Halloween, and like you did not have that much time to decorate - so my daughters did it for me, and we have a decorated home. I hope you and your family have a great halloween!
Sharon, thanks! Have fun tonight!!!
Next year, I'll put my kids on it... they were too focused on themselves and their costumes. Didn't quite care as much about decorating the house. :)
I can't wait for tonight. I bought a cute witch wreath about a month ago at a street festival. I bought a few more things to dress up the wall sconces with amber lights and spooky cloth. Got my candy and a funny headband w/ bats to wear. Chanel will bark at all the goblins too!
I love looking at decorated homes for Halloween. Woke up early today to get the kids in their customs. They look so cute and were ready more than any other day to go to school.
Hi Irina,
Interesting numbers. I had no idea that the average person spend that kind of money on Halloween. A few years ago while on the east coast I was amazed at how the homes were decorated for fall. Absolutely spectacular.
Lizette, you'll have to send a link to photos!
Mana, how fun... photos, please!
Lynda, I was actually expecting to see higher $s being spent looking at some of the decorations around Pasadena and San Marino. :-)
Irena hope you have a great Halloween. That is quite a pumkin!
Irina,
It just blows me away the length some people go with the Halloween decorations! They must have more time and energy than I do. :-)
Bill, you too... enjoy and stay safe!
Cynthia, I'm with you... no time, no energy... feel like a party pooper. :-)
Irina, interesting stats. BTW, no one came for candy at my house. Boooo.
