I work with several investors in the Metro Atlanta area and quite often the homes are in good shape, it just needs a little freshening to make it appealing to a wide variety of potential buyers.
Here is a GREAT example of how a kitchen could be transformed with a can of paint, new hardware and a few of my staging materials).
This is the BEFORE...
And this is the AFTER...
By painting the cabinets white, it really opened up this smaller (dark) kitchen and added quite a bit of light to the room. Because the dishwasher and stove didn't match, by painting the cabinets white, it also helped to blend the stove in with the cabinets / counters.
In a VERY competitive market, we were able to sell this home in about 60 days.

Great post. Unfortunately for them, most sellers don't understand the full impact that a little paint can have on their sales price.

I'm considering putting my house on the market after the holidays and do plan to repaint the interior, clean the carpet, and empty the entire house. Maybe I will hire a stagger to perk up the view since it could help sell but in all honesty, I am so disgusted with the HOA and Taxes in Charlotte, I don't want to spend too much more.

It's amazing what a little paint and cleaning can do. Mkaes a place feel brand new.
In this instance, the white paint really made a big impact. It not only makes the kitchen look larger, but like you said, it helps the oven blend in, makes the kitchen look more updated, and helps the flooring and stainless steel dishwasher and sink stand out even more.
