Halloween
is just a couple days away and here are the some
of the fun and frightful events taking place on Friday, October 31:
Halloween
in Lahaina: Although the town is not
sponsoring a major Halloween
fest this year as they have in the past, many businesses will be
offering specials and entertainment to lure those seeking a frightfully
good time.
Keiki Halloween
Parade: Children in their costumes can participate in the
annual parade which strolls down Front Street beginning at 4:30 at the
corner of Papalaua and Front St. and ends at Banyan Tree Park.
Front Street will be closed starting at 4pm.
Children aged 12 and under are invited to participate in this
family-friendly parade.
Pioneer
Inn Costume Contest: Costume contest begins at
7pm for cash prizes. First place award is $500, second place
is $300, and third place is $200. Gift certificates will be
awarded for funniest and sexiest costumes. Admission is $5.
Halloween
Cannery Kid's Night: Children can expect a ghostly fun
time at the Lahaina Cannery Mall beginning at 5pm. Events
include Halloween magic, trick-or-treating, crafts, face painting, and
a costume contest. There will also be a pineapple decorating
contest (you heard right - pineapple, not pumpkin).
Haunted
Happenings at the Wharf Cinema Center: Head to
the The Wharf Cinema Center in Lahaina for Kids Karaoke Costume Contest
from 6 to 7pm, Ghoulish Gala Karaoke Costume Contest from 7 to 9:30pm,
and face painting from 5 to 10pm. Live entertainment at
Mulligan's on the Wharf from 10 to 1am and also at the Cool Cat Cafe
from 10:30 to 1:30am.
Spook-tacular
Evening at Sea: Pacific Whale Foundation is
offering "Spook-tacular Evening at Sea" night cruises which depart at
3, 6, 6:30 and 7pm from Maalaea Harbor and includes a 2-hour stop in
Lahaina for guests to explore the town. Enjoy food and drinks
during the cruise and savor the Halloween revelry from sea.
Cost for adults is $69.95 and $59.95 for children
12 and younger. The early bird cruise costs $54.95 for adults

Haunted
Theater III: Historic Iao Theater is offering a
frightenly good time from 6 to 9pm in downtown Wailuku.
Admission is $2 and enjoy the re-creation of Michael
Jackson's "Thriller" choreographed by Alexander Cardinalli.
Explore a guided fun maze full of surprises including a
live zombie. Due to the strobe lights and fog
machines, this event is not suitable for
young children and those with heart conditions.
Halloween
at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center: Children can
trick-or-treat at the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center in Kahului from 5 to 8
pm. Look for the balloons, which identify the participating
businesses or pick up a list from the customer service desk.
The event is for children 12 and under and adults must
accompany thier children.

Halloween in Paia: Participating businesses in
Paia will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters from 4 to 7pm.
Nighttime entertainment and costume contests will also be

Calvary Chapel Carnival: a family-friendly
carnival is planned at the Calvary Chapel South Maui church at the Maui
Lu from 6 to 8:30 pm. Festivities include games, prizes,
candy, prizes, face painting, soda pop walk, and costume contest.
Nonscary and innocent costumes are welcome; masks must be

Halloween
at Maui Mall: The Maui Mall in Kahului will be
offering trick-or-treating, balloons, face painting, and costume
contests from 4 to 8 pm. Call 871-1307 for more information.
Trick
or Treat at Kihei Kalama Village: Participating
merchants and restaurants will be handing out candy to
trick-or-treaters at the Kihei Kalama Village from 4 to 7:30pm.
