Early this year in 2008 Amy Bickers from the Kiplinger news Letter wrote about the best cities in 2008 in which Boise Idaho was name the 4th best city in the nation
In that article Bickers asked the question, "How do any folks get any work done around here? The skiing, snowboarding, fishing, biking and kayaking in Boise are an almost irresistible temptation to desert your desk".
Now Kiplinger News has written about "The Best Cities to Work and Play" and again the writers have named Boise the 4th best city to work and play
The formula used to select the top 10 cities to work and play were based on not only past performance but with those cities that had all the right ingredients for future success. All the cities chosen had people in the creative classes such as scientists, engineers, architects, educators, writers, artists and entertainers.
Boise Idaho has long been recognized for it's beauty and positive business and family atmosphere. Boise attracts the young at heart and the empty nesters as well. There is a nice blend of old and new housing which remains very affordable. The median price of a home in Boise Idaho stands at $235,000 and the cost of living is very attractive.
Boise Idaho is the home to Micron Technology, one of the largest computer chip manufacturers in the world and the home to the printer division of Hewlett-Packard.

The Boise River meanders through the center of the city with parks, restaurants, walking/bike baths and housing developments bordering the river for miles. One can float the Boise River in the summer months or hike the mountains that border the city on the east side. In the winter months Bogus Basin Ski Resort is less than an hour from Boise with many cross-country ski and snow mobile trails along the way.

I like the scenary and the area. Just not to sure about those winters. Of course the summers down here are brutal also.
Boise is a wonderful city. It may be one of the nicest, but it is no Honolulu.
Aloha from sunny Hawaii. :)
Hello George, I like your photos they do look inviting. For some reason or another my daughter and I were just talking about Idaho the other day. She is 12 and her comment was...that's where all the potatoes come from, right?
Nice localism post!
John - S.W. Idaho where Boise is located has very mild winters unlike the rest of Idaho. I would not live here if it were real cold!
Randy - Thank you my friend. You are right, it is no Honolulu but it is one awesome and diversified city and many love it! Have a great weekend my friend.
Lori - Thank you. Yes, Idaho has always been known for it's potatoes but like Amy Bickers from the Kiplinger Letter discovered, it is hard to go to work because there is so much to do! Thanks for your comment and I hope you and your daughter and family have an awesome weekend.
I have never been to Boise -- it does look like a great place to live and work. Congratulations on Boise being recognized! I hope to visit some day.
Joan - Thank you my friend. It's good to hear from you and I hope all is well. Have a great weekend.
I certainly can see why anyone would want to call Boise, ID home. Congratulations on the well deserved Kudos by Kipplinger. Make sure you embed that video in your "google juiced" site. It will do wonders.
George - Even though we decided to explore another area of the country for relocation you can bet that we will be making a trip to your area one of these days and I'm hoping you'll be available to give us some sightseeing tips! I love the mountains in the background - now that's a piece of heaven for sure!
George, I love that line of "How do any people get any work done around here?" That's the place to live.
Tracy - Thank you but I don't have a video.
Carol - The mountians east of Boise are just incredible and when they are snow capped in the winter and spring they are magnificent. It will be my pleasure to meet with you and give you some great sites to visit.
Gary - It really is hard to motivate oneself to do any kind of work!
Here 's the link for the video...I put it on my website also..

The video should start, if it doesn't, I'll help tomorrow.
Hi George,
I like the idea that Bickers captured and commented on, the future potential of Boise. Over the years the City of Boise has grown from a small western town to an noteable city. I'm very proud to call her my capital city.
For those folks who like four seasons, but perfer a mild and relatively short winter, Boise is your gal. However, if you want the dynamic outdoor opportunities of big snow play time, you can be in the powder in 30 minutes. In fact Boise is within 2 hours of three major ski resorts. If you've gotta have it all, you might as well come to Idaho.

I made a mistake. Use this link. If you go to my website(I don't want to take away from your post) at the top there is a button called "Why Raleigh-Cary?" and it's a link to the Raleigh/Cary Video. Very impressive to my clients.

Love your post George! Congratulations on the ranking!!!!
Ana - Gracia Amiga! It is good to hear from you and I hope all is well.
I ahve no argument. Matter of fact I think there are a handful of cities in the northwest that should be on thsi list! Boise is beautiful!
looks too beautiful. I dont think I would be able to work :) - hope business is well for you
Casey - Thanks my friend. Boise is awesome!
Jason - Thank you...yes many have a hard time going to work! Business is great and I hope it is for you as well.
Hi George! I see our Raleigh was ranked on that Top 10 list too! That is very interesting b/c, of course, you know I'm partial to Charlotte, especially having lived in both cities--they obviously didn't poll me!!!
Again, gorgeous post with beautiful photos and showing your passion for Boise! Your clients are fortunate to have someone so knowledgeable of the area.
Debe - Yes, your area is beautiful as well Debe and you and I are very blessed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening.
Yes Boise is a wonderful City!
Patty - Thanks
