For the past several years Boise Idaho and Idaho in general has been touted as a place that is great for families and businesses.
Early this year of 2008 Amy Bickers from the Kiplinger News Letter personally visited Boise Idaho and was very impressed asking the question "How do folks get any work done around here?" Amy was referring to the Skiing, Snow Boarding, Fishing, Biking and Kayaking all offered in and around Boise and in most parts of the state.
Idaho is one of the most diversified states anywhere in the nation. The northern part of the state has one of the most beautiful lakes and cities in the nation in Coeur d Alene and its natural lake all located near the Canadian border.
Central Idaho is an outdoorsman's dream come true. The Salmon River offers some of the most scenic and breathtaking tours avid water enthusiasts will ever find. If you like to kayak, fish, or take float trips you must put down the Salmon River on your list of places to visit.
South Central Idaho with it's vast farms that run for miles and miles are made even more beautiful with the massive Snake River that cuts through this vast farm country. This area is where the majority of the famous "Idaho Potatoes" are grown.
In the South West area of Idaho where Boise is located and where I was born and called home for my entire life the economy is one of the stongest in the nation. There is a diversification of agriculture, technology, medical and service industries. The Boise River runs through the middle of the city and the magnificent mountains located on the east side of Boise offer snow skiing, snow mobiling, cross country skiing and hiking just minutes from downtown.
Idaho Real Estate remains very affordable. In Ada County where Boise is located the median price of a home stands at $235,000. Homes in neighboring Canyon County just west of Boise are even more attractive with median prices well under $200,000. In many rural areas of Idaho that are less than an hour from major cities good housing can be found for prices under $100,000.
Take the same tour Amy Bickers took that impressed her so much, Tour Boise Idaho

I have gone fishing and camping along the Snake River and the Salmon River. One time I ran into a yellow jacket nest while camping, not fun:( But seriously, this is gorgeous country. And safe for families and kids.
Nestor & Katerina - Sorry about your run in with a yellow jacket nest but yes, there are some incredible areas that will take your breath away. Thanks for stopping by and I hope all is well.
George: Wonderful Localism post on Boise Idaho! Your passion for your area definitely shows in your posts--great job!
Debe - Thank you once again my friend. Be blessed!
George, what a GREAT review of all the wonderful areas around the state. The recreational areas alone make living there very scenic once you escape from your normal weekly work.
Hi Gary...One of the prettiest places I've seen in the U.S. is Coeur d Alene. That is quite a lake and I loved the golf course with the green out in the water.
I have something in my office that I purchased in Coeur d Alene and whenever I notice it I recall the short time I stayed there.
Cheers,
Kate
