Carol Stream 2008 Halloween Trick or Treat Hours and Safety Tips

The official Village of Carol Stream Trick or Treat hours are Friday, October 31st from 3-7pm.

To ensure a safe and fun Halloween, please review these safety tips with your children.

~ SAFETY TIPS ~

Make sure your child's costume does not drag on the ground.

Make sure the costume fits your child and is brightly colored or has reflective markings.

Wear a watch. Preferably one that can be read in the dark.

Accessories like light swords and sticks should be soft and flexible.

Carry a flashlight!

Obey traffic signals. Cross streets between crosswalks or at intersections. If there are no sidewalks, walk on the parkways. DO NOT WALK IN THE STREETS!!

Walk, don't run! Stay on sidewalks! If there are no sidewalks, walk on the side of the road facing traffic.

Stay away from all animals you don't know. Especially, do not pet dogs you don't know.

Children should trick or treat with an adult.

Trick or treat in neighborhoods you are familiar with and avoid unfamiliar and unlit homes.

NEVER enter a home of someone you do not know for any reason!

Do not eat any candy until it has been inspected by an adult. Even if the candy is wrapped, it should be checked for openings, pin size holes or evidence of tampering. Any "homemade treat" should not be eaten unless it comes from someone you know.
