Web Graphics - Hot Spotting Maps For Home Searches

Most of you that know me personally...understand my real secret to success in real estate is the Web. I host, design, and do all my own web designs and do all my own SEO and web placement. I really do nothing fancy, but concentrate on being very effective. I am currently designing a new web for Maryland. Ellen and I are now licensed as brokers in 3 states. Georgia, Maryland and Virginia. So my current project is to redesign the way I build my sites and improve the way it drives web traffic at every level.

If I start at a state level, I can drill down to a county, city, zip code and even subdivision level. Since the Internet is a visual and text medium, I like to try various methods for the drill down for information. Graphics can be a part of this, and I've toyed with Google maps, but wanted something more personalized. So for the last few months I've been toying with a drawing program called Smart Draw. It isn't cheap, but I really like it. I can design state maps, local counties, and even zip codes for some area. I can then do a hot spot to drive a search with a link that goes from the map to the MLS search.

Please keep in mind this is just a work in progress. If you click on each county, it drives a search to that County. Let me know what you think! (Artwork is Copyright Jim Crawford 2008)

Looks like it takes some work!  Looks very nice Jim, I like how it goes straight to the search.

Jim: I think it is awesome!  People are so visual and after a while looking at all those drop down menus can be tedious.  So....when do you sleep??

Colorado Springs Realty Patricia Beck (Prudential Professional Realtors, GRI) I created this last night.  Now if you click on the counties on this Blog it goes directly to the search.  I did not have time as I ran out this morning.

This is really awesome. Agree with Diana with regards to visual versus drop down menus. So when do you sleep? Great job.

Debbie Small, CRS, GRI (Long & Foster Realtors)  Thanks! I like to keep improving.  I love this drawing program!
