Shelbyville Rd, Perfect home for Shleby Campus Professors

I have a great listing on Shelbyville Rd, really close to all the construction going on at the University of Louisville's Shelby Campus. So, if you know of a UofL Professor moving to town or in town and going to be working at the Shelby Campus, I have a short commute for them, possibly an office or studio at the house. Check out 8511 Shelbyville Rd for more photos and info, click on the main photo at the site to see all interior and exterior pics.

Connect with others in Oldham County

Take a minute to check out Oldham County KY. I am building a networking site where people in Oldham County can connect with friends and neighbors in the community, share events that are happening, give opinions and a place for small businesses to promote themselves for free. Also, it will give those thinking of moving to OC a feel for the community other than "great schools".

In order for this to be useful, informative and fun, I will need your help getting it going. So, don't be shy, would love for you to join and contribute, promote an event, your small business or a one that you are a huge fan of or let someone with a small business know about the site, I would appreciate it.

The address is http://oldhamcountyky.ning.com/

I have started a few discussions about best places to eat and live in Oldham County. I have also started a few groups for Crestwood, Prospect and Goshen. Working on adding Lagrange and Pewee Valley.

Free Stuff to do in Crestwood and Louisville (Corrected, take another Look)

I saw 2 articles today promoting free.

The first was in the Courier Journal Neighborhood section, Photography by Ray is doing free 5x7 photos of your kids (with costume) in Crestwood, KY on Halloween from 2-6pm. Need to bring a canned good for Dare to Care.

Mayor Jerry invited everyone down to the river on Oct 24 for a farwell trip on the Delta Queen. It is losing Federal Grants and is being shipped out.

Got an email with some better info about the Delta Queen and what is going on, worth taking a look at:

"Your blog came to me this morning via a google alert - I would like to correct some mis-information that it contains. Since we are still working to Save the DELTA QUEEN, this information could be harmful. Mainly, the DQ has never ever operated with government grants, and that's not what she needs now. Since the 1960's she has operated with special exemptions from Congress because she mistakenly had been included in A Safety Of Lives At Sea (SOLAS) law because she has a wooden superstructure. Of course, she doesn't ever go to sea, only operates on the rivers, where she can make a landing and evacuate in minutes. It's all a big mess, and so very sad that we are going to lose another piece of our history. This is due to ONE Representative who has refused to let the bill for her new exemption out of his Committee - not due to safety factors, but due to Unions and politics! If you care to learn more, go to www.steamboats.org where there are links to our Save the Delta Queen campaign. Also, there will be no rides on the 24th when the boat is in Louisville - this never happens, as she carries overnight passengers on all her trips (unlike the BELLE who does day trips) - due to Homeland Security, no one can even go aboard and visit any more. Take your family down to the landing and let them see the last overnight steamboat in America - they'll enjoy it! I'm sure you'll get a calliope comcert.................."

With gas below $3, these might be worth the trip.
