Considering Making a Move...?

11-23-08
Harris First

When you're thinking about making a move, the first steps in the home buying process are:
1. Deciding when you want to make your move
2. Considering how much money you would like to spend
3. Thinking about what type of home you would like
4. Deciding where you would like to live

The next step is usually finding out how much loan you can qualify for and deciding the type of financing will work best for you.

If you're in the "thinking about it" stage, you will want to speak with a lender about receiving pre-qualification. If you choose to become pre-qualified, the lender will determine how much you can borrow based on financial information you provide to the lender. Pre-qualification is useful for making preliminary decisions about how much home you can afford, but does not assess your creditworthiness.

You will need to fill out a loan application and go through the lender's loan approval process at a later date. When you decide to buy a home, you will want to become pre-approved for a loan prior to beginning your home search.

LADNER RESTAURANT REVIEW

08-08-08
Harris First

About a year ago one of my favorite clients and now friend told me he had always wanted to be a restaurant critic. Every time we got together he told me about all of the great restaurants he had gone to with his wife.
A light bulb went on. I asked him if he would like to contribute and collect reviews for my Real Estate newsletter and he was thrilled!
Here goes...

Taverna Gorgona
Greek Restaurant

5047-48th Avenue, Ladner, B.C.

Great Greek food - excellent value - nice people
I love this place ; we have dined here at least half a dozen times over the past year or so and never had a bad meal there. The rack of lamb is awesome for $22.95 you can't beat it with it's generous portions and great flavour. They also have Warsteiner German beer on tap here it is always cold and fresh tasting I order it every visit. Belly dancers on the weekend for entertainment really liven the place up. Servers are fast and friendly the owners are two of the nicest people you would ever meet. Very warm patio experience in the good weather; they even have a private gazebo for up to 6 people you can sit under. Just a solid all around good night out without spending a big wad of cash. Always a comfort to return to this place for dinner.

Feels like a bit of Greece
Taverna Gorgona is a lovely neighborhood Greek restaurant that has been around for years. Several years ago, it moved from a small, cramped location sandwiched in a strip mall to the location formerly occupied by the 48th Ave Fish Co. It's transformed the space into a warm and inviting slice of Greece in the midst of Ladner.
The food is consistently good (bordering on great depending on who's in the kitchen) and the service is warm and friendly. It's our fall-back place when we run out of ideas.
My favorites are their sautéed calamari appetizer and their lamb dishes. Their pastas are pretty good, too. Even if you don't order dessert, they bring you a Greek-style tiramisu to share. Very light and refreshing.

A must see and a must taste!
I love this place!! I stumbled across it one Friday night and have gone back plenty of times!
The Food is amazing and great size portions! The seats have a thick cushion, lots of plants; they have a belly dancer and magician on Friday & Saturday nights!
Servers are always friendly and the food comes out fast! You also get free "Ekmek" (not sure about the spelling) dessert. Mmmh. Reservations are recommended, GO!
