The standard response from people that cannot defend themselves....

The standard response from people that cannot defend themselves with any basis as to covering their behinds on something that they did as a group, is "why don't you join and make a difference?". Well I am sorry, I do not have the time to do that nor do many of my fellow Realtors who have families, 2nd jobs and/or both. And while some people are content in their positon of power and using it as a bully pulpit, I can use this forum to speak for the many members who agree with me and value my opinion. And volunteering has NOTHING to do with the matter. If you are going to truly represent an organization of members than you should either poll them or hold a vote on the issues that matter to the membership, not act in haste because you were elected to a position. Being elected does not give carte blanche to do whatever you want as a board. Some basic common sense like using the membership to contribute to these decisions is what is needed. So please stop making excuses such as "why don't you join" instead of bad mouthing and know and learn that my words here are part of the solution - not the problem as you call it, as they reflect many others who agree with me. So the only problem here is you with me and what I am doing because you are looking out after your own interests.

Pocono Mountain Association of Realtors at it again!!!! (And it is not good)

Once again, in their infinite wisdom, the geniuses that comprise the board of the Pocono Mountains Association of Realtors, decide that eliminating the e-mail system for posting Broker/Agent Open Houses is a great idea, because a couple of members cannot deal with having to open just one more e-mail. Maybe if these Realtors were more focused on their job and learn about properties that may be suitable for their clients, learn about neighborhoods, get to know their fellow Realtors, instead of being self-centered, selfish S.O.B's, then maybe there would not be such a glut of homes on the market, maybe there would be a better spirit of comraderie amongst Realtors, maybe there would be more full-time Realtors who really give a damn about what they are doing and maybe PMAR can tackle more pressing issues than e-mail. I think there are a lot more important issues to focus on, like advertising for their members, telling people how wonderful buying a home here in the Poconos is, and instead PMAR addresses the most insignificant issues that just hurt us Realtors, not help. If anyone can show me the benefit of this, please enlighten me, but I know you cannot. And to see more of PMAR's wonderful doings, see my previous post with PMAR in the title.

Sincerely,

A Bad Precedent

Better Homes and Gardens magazine lent its' name to Real Estate companies like it was an endorsement of the company that bought into it. Now the magazine is shilling for the said real estate company like they are the complete authority on real estate and that you need to get right up and go buy from them. This is a BAD precedent. For example, Better Homes and Gardens magazine named Arrowhead Lakes as their "Best Place to Buy a Second Home in the Poconos". I can easily rattle off 5 communities that many of my clients and I would choose well before Arrowhead Lakes. While Arrowhead Lakes is a nice community, it should not be named the best, but because BH&G Real Estate has a branch office near there, it entices homeowners there to list homes for sale with them and falsely leading buyers to believe that Arrowhead is "The Best Place To Buy A Second Home". If BH&G wants to maintain its' reputation as a leader in its' segment of publication, it should not become an unabashed shill for their real estate affiliates.

Baby boomers mean Pocono boom starting sooner than later

Many people of the "baby boom" generation are going to be fleeing NY and NJ and while there will be many of the usual suspects (Florida, California) for people to retire to, the Poconos is going to see its' share of these "boomers" come our way. I have already sold to this discriminating type of buyer who looks for convienence, activities and amenities that will be fufilling to them. Proximity to houses of worship, shopping and on site restaurants are also important to them.
