First I want to start out by saying I am probably the last person that should be blogging about politics but what the heck today is a day we will all remember for a long time to come no matter who wins. I also have the privilege to live in a place that celebrates election years very different from anywhere I have ever heard of. You see I live in Delaware the 1st STATE and we have what is called "Returns Day". And it is alot of fun for all. People travel from around the region to attend this great day. Today while driving to work I went into to Town to vote (Georgetown the County Seat) and they were getting the Circle ready for the festivities that will begin tomorrow night at 6pm. You see the people here believe that no matter who wins or losing when all is said in done after roasting an Ox, hanging out listening to local music and enjoying your neighbors company you should Bury the Hatchet. All this happens here in Sussex County i the circle of Georgetown. This event dates as far back as 1791. It is held the Thursday after election day when the town cry-er reads the results. Today things are alittle different and we don't really need to have the results read to us 2 days later but its a wonderful tradition and I am thankful they have kept it going. Since 2001 when I moved to Georgetown, DE from Maryland I remember thinking what in the world are these people all about. Well now after attending several Returns day events and the parade on Thursday afternoon where all the candidates ride together to greet the public I am thankful I live here and am able to be a part of such a wonderful tradition. Schools let out early, business close early and everyone meets in Georgetown to hear see the candidates in the parade and watch the Burying of the Hatchet.

This year we may even have a big surprise in the parade I will let you know as I find out who the attendees will be. I know the Clyde's Dale horses have arrived. And they are washing and waxing the old buggies for the candidates to ride alongside one an other in. I will be sure to post pictures later in the week.
