Everytime I see anyone I know lately the first question I get is "So - how's the market?". Naturally this is weighting heavily on people's minds due to the current nationwide economic circumstances. Fortunately, my response is truthfully "I'm busier than ever!" along with "There are always people who need to move." and "Now is the time to invest in real estate!"

True - there have been several agents in our area that have chosen to get out of the business this past year but most of the experienced agents I've spoken to have been very busy and most will at least match or beat their sales volume from 2007. The advantage of having been in the business for several years is the repeat business from past clients and referrals. Although the real estate market may be tough for newer agents, it is "business as usual" for others.

The saying that all real estate is local obviously comes into play a little bit too but luckily the Black Hills of South Dakota is (and will always be) a very good real estate market due to the fact that there is high demand for properties in the hills and a growing shortage of supply!

So - for those people who currently live in western South Dakota or are planning to move to or from the area, have no fear - our market is GREAT!
