The Glass. Half Full or Half Empty

Tom Braatz, South Eastern Wisconsin : Real Estate Agent in Oconomowoc, WI

A lot has changed in a short time. I think it is fair to say that so much has changed in the last three years or so that it would be hard to find a time that pressed out so much in a short amount of time. Foreclosures, families failing, economies devastated, bailouts. The list is long and it seems to have a river effect to it.

My thoughts are with all the families that have lost their jobs, the children behind those faces and the smiles they display. My grandmother used to remind me of people coming off the railroad track in the depression and asking for a meal. She said it was the right thing to do as in feeding them because she would have hoped someone would have done the same for her if the table was turned.

Now I see signs of emerging markets, buyers buying because they not only have to but because they want to. Time has a way of healing and also allowing us to forget. I don't see anyone forgetting the lessons of the last number of years too fast.

A very smart woman once said to me as she went off to teach and I asked her how she dealt with the children getting out of hand at times. She said in response "My children respect me, they know I will call their parents and that is the last thing they want. I call the parents in" As simple as it was, it worked and wast effective I thought. I look forward to when I see warmer weather one day and all this is just a dream.

For the failures that big business, markets, economies, buyouts and mergers and everything else that has manifested and festered out of control: Do we call their parent companies? I often look at a glass in today's time and ask my self if it has began to be better? I am optimistic: about my health, the people I know, the World. I used to ask myself if the World is a better place to live? My Grandmother used to tell me that when I leave this World I should leave it better than when I came in. You've got it Gumma. I will listen to your advice. Is the glass half full or has it become half empty?

Your thoughts.

Running With The Big Dogs... My Mentor Larry "LW"

Tom Braatz, South Eastern Wisconsin : Real Estate Agent in Oconomowoc, WI

I had a chance to drive through the Village of Hartland today. It was just as interesting I was reminiscing with my attorney friend Larry Maloney of Dealfield Law Offices. Larry and I totally agree that out mutual friend Larry was one of the greatest saleman on Earth. Larry has since pasted on, but will ever be remembered in the hearts of many. I came to know LW when I was working for a company called Merrill Lynch in the eighties. LW was one of the most personable persons you could ever meet. He made time for everyone, and at the same time was amazingly productive.

I think it was LW that also said something one time to me that indeed sat in my mind, and still does, as to determination.

I always found it amazing when I was younger how well LW manged his time. Just when I thought I was starting to have a solid foot some obstacle would get in the way. Larry was the kind of man that thought big, and quality. When someone was out building a two family hwe was building a huge condo project in Hartland. He accomplished them and went to the next. Best of all he always had a smile, and time for anyone. I asked him how in the World he took on such tasks, ran a Re/Max company, worked for Re/Max, and was four place at once? I thought I would get a noble answer but in Larry's magnificent way of getting a point across he mentioned to me that he didn't like to hear people saying they can't He then came back and said to me "Tommy, if you want to run with the big dogs you better learn to lift your leg a little higher!"

Larry if your looking down right about now, I thank you for the wonderful education in Real Estate. By the way LW I know you used to roll those eyes at me when we had the street dances in Hartland and I was in charge of the helium and balloons. I have lost my sense of humor with the helium, but because of you my way of thinking rose to the skies!

Sincerely

Tom Braatz

Take on the market. Laugh at bad energy, have a plan to be productive: Kick it in gear!

Tom Braatz, South Eastern Wisconsin : Real Estate Agent in Oconomowoc, WI

"Explore your interests in life and do them with passion. Never let someone tell you that it cannot be done. Rather, dare to be different, two steps forward, allows a step backwards once in a while.Networking allows us to satisfy our curiosity"

"Life is a journey that has to be relished. Life really is all attitude. Dont create a self defeating prophecy and tell your self you can't do something. Rather control your destiny and be passionate about very evrything that excites you, or you partake in"

"We all need to lead by example. Life is an amazing journey. One should always strive to take two steps forward at all times. In the event we take a step backwards once in a while we still are ahead. Focusing and pursueing interests makes us what man is"

"Life is a mission of always taking two steps forward. Occasionally you may take a stepback but at least you are still moving in a forward motion, and not to look back at your past mistakes as failures but rather lessons that do not neccessarily need to be"

"We all really need to lead by example"

"Focus, and focus with clear vision. Envisiopn the things you want and get a gameplan to obtain them.Once you have that plan attack it with a vengence and make it work until you reach your vision and goals. Dream, and never stop dreaming. The day you do is the day you lose ambition, desire, and hope."

There is not a day that goes by that I don't get a barge of emails telling me I am doing things wrong and I need another coach, more of this, and more of that. I am constantly reminded the market has changed like never before, and everything has changed for drastic means. I am told that people will do this, and people will do that. What do I say? Break it down to little peices that are really small, get up with a better attitude than before. I am so sorry that things are what they are. My heart really goes out to everyone and anyone has the same common goal. As of today I have not had one person tell me "You know Tom, I wish it would get worst"

Laugh if you want. Go up against me and lets see who gets the listing.Your going to be walking away, and I will take the check to the bank with the others. Get what I have an enjoy your money, quit worrying about what others, in fact who cares. IF you get into what your doing people will take notice and ask what came over you. I have the edge, talent,no how, conviction, toughness, and vision to help you achieve you goals. I also offer inexpensive coaching once a week that keeps you on track, your numbers go right up their, and we put the daily structure of enjoyment back into your life. Roll up your sleeves with me and let's get our game plan going so you can be peaceful, happy, productive, and really have people stand up and take notice. The best thing is you always had it in you;you just need help getting it out in the fore front on a daily level, weekly level, monthly level, and more. Perhaps changing your life for such a fast moving positive direction may frighten you. I say GOOD! Get over it, and start being you.

SEE YOU AT CLOSING!!! The following qoute below sums it up quite well

"Famous Green Bay Coach of the best NFL team ever once said " If it does not matter who wins or loses then why do they keep score?""

Oconomowoc Wisconsin waits for your arrival

Tom Braatz, South Eastern Wisconsin : Real Estate Agent in Oconomowoc, WI

Western Waukesha County is the location for Oconomowoc Wisconsin. If you were thinking of relocating this would be one place you would not want to miss. Beautiful Lakes, magnificent parks, wonderful shops, amazing restaurants and cafes. It would be hard to run out od things to do, and the activities could not run out.Full and History, and loaded with charm, Oconomowoc is truly a magnificent City to visit, and to work and live in.

Coo-No-Mo-Wauk (where the waters meet, or river of lakes) in time would become Oconomowoc.

As the town grew and word of its beauty and natural wealth spread, tradesmen began to arrive. One such early settler was a young man named John S. Rockwell. He built his griss mill, owned the first store and hotel, and enoted sites to all the churches. He started the fire department, the library, the elementary school, and more.

At one time, Lake Road was referred to as "Presidents Avenue since Taft, Grant, Cleveland, Coolidge,McKinley and Teddy Roosevelt had visited and enjoyed Draper Hall and the hospitality of its wealthy residents.

Todays the summer mansions are year round homes, and the largely intact, late 19th century downtown and many stately historic houses are reminders of those years. Historic walking tours are available.

This truly is a very beautiful city, and can be enjoyed by all.

Sincerely

Tom Braatz
